I took the inspiration for this project from the Donna Dewberry Mural Book. This design is a fireplace screen in her book.
As I begin my journey into One Stroke Painting, I'm amazed at what this special technique has enabled me to paint. I've always loved beautiful things, but felt I could never paint like this without extensive training. In early September, 2002, I saw Donna Dewberry, the developer of the One Stroke Painting, doing a demonstration on our PBS TV station. I was so fascinated with the beauty, and how easy Donna made it look, that I ordered her Basic Strokes kit. And guess what! IT IS EASY!!!
I received my OneStoke Basic Stroke kit on 9/23/02, and these were painted on paper plates that afternoon! Please give this page a little extra time to load. It has 14 images, so should take 2 minutes or less.

The two images above were painted on greeting card stock the SECOND DAY I had my kit, both of which were mailed to friends that day.
The 4 images above were painted on 10/2/02 on some old card stock that had been sitting in my office for a couple years!
Well, today is Monday, October 7, 2002, exactly 2 weeks since I started my One Stroke journey. All of the paintings above have been done over the last 14 days.

BEWARE: One Stroke can be addictive...and can bring out the obsessive/compulsive side of a person. Ha-ha! In the last 14 days, in addition to the projects shown above, I've painted flowers on the floppy disc drive of my computer, a rose on my computer printer, trailing vines on the frame around my computer screen, pink rosebuds on a white frosted glass votive candle, zinnias on the lids of my canister set, white flowers on a frosted pink vase, wisteria on a clear glass vase, pink roses on a hurricane lamp for a pillar candle, roses on a blue wooden heart-shaped box, roses on a couple plain, white gift bags, roses on my antique white metal lawn chairs (2), rosebuds on my white porch swing, yellow flowers on a white cardboard bracelet gift box (I keep my paint brushes in it), wisteria and vines on the staircase at my 200-year-old log cabin, and wisteria on the top of my coffee table at the cabin.... hmmm..  I think that's it. It seems that everywhere I look, I see an area that would make a good "canvas". As I look around the room, I spot tha back of my husband's navy blue leather recliner...hmmmm.....wouldn't that look pretty with a big, pink rose on it!!! HAHA! Hubby is afraid to take a nap for fear that he'll wake up with a big posey painted on his forehead!

Well, check back often. We'll see how One Stroke progresses!
